Garry Hickton writes: Geoff Hoon, who is worried he may soon lose his seat, is trying, some say, to land a position with the Football League and possibly with Derby County. Mr Hoon will face grass roots activists on February 12th and rumours are he may be deselected.
The real losers here, of course, are the people of Ashfield who elected him as their MP.
What Ashfield constituents need is a Member of Parliament who will put Ashfield first and give the people a real voice in Westminster and, if elected at the next election, that is exactly what I will do.
Liberal Democrats have put out a leaflet stating that they are the ones who can beat Labour in Ashfield. Let me remind them ... at the last General Election it was the Conservatives who came the closest to beating Labour with the Lib Dems trailing behind with just over 5,000 votes.
So, if you have had enough of this Labour Government and you want a change, the only way to ensure this happens is by voting Conservative at the General Election.
